Praise God for Another Beautiful Day

Boy, it is just beautiful out there today. I just got home from the P.O. Box and I can not believe how nice it is in Feb.
Almost made me want to go fishing! Except I can't get to any of the equiptment, Grandpa has it in his van. LOL that way I can't go without him. He is in Tulsa today. Work Work Work. That is Grandpa.
We are getting Joy's girls tonight so that she and James can get up bright and early and get themselves in gear to go to court for thier hearing on Christians custody inforcement. Keep them ALL in your prayers.
Joy is really proud of thier new little home. She is making curtains and buying pictures and working in both of thier taste into the decorations throughout thier home. When you have two families that are combined, you get a lot of different taste in decoration. They are doing pretty good putting thiers together. Unlike me, I just do it an then tell Grandpa, there it is. What do you think? roflol... He doesn't really care about decorations, as long as he can find his fishing & camping stuff, he is happy. That works for me, too! Of course, decoration means changing around family pictures and getting new curtains and painting the walls once in a while, that is it for me. Yet, it is homey for us.
It is getting to where we don't get to see Joy, James, Jessica , Jordan or Christian much anymore. They moved to 10 buck 2 and none of us seems to have time to get together anymore. That will change when James graduates from College and can have some time at home again. You sort of hate to infringe on thier family time when they don't get much of it to themselves, either.
I can wait until summer gets here. I want to try and get together with all of my children and grandchildren a lot more when it is pretty outside and we can all have fun talking, cooking out and playing games. Maybe life will slow down a little this summer.
God Bless All

Getting things in order

Well, I sat here yesterday and typed up a Durable Power of Attorney for both Grandpa and myself. With all the stuff we girls had to go through with Grandad when he was in the hospital with his leg, I just fixed ours to where, of course, I will be the first one on Bruces and Bruce is of course the first one on mine. Then we have each of our children on it. That way if by chance, Bruce or I , can not make decissions, and we are covered if one of the children is not there, the one that is can get us help and/or do what they already know that we want to be done. All we need now is to get the wittnesses to sign it and get it notarized and everything will be cool. We are going to get Jim and Jeanie Land to wittness and Doris Ventris is going to notarize it.
I was asked for a power of attorney on Grandpa at Walgreens when I went to get his information for our taxes. That is getting crazy, with 34 years 7 months of marriage and they would not let me have his information. These privacy laws are getting crazy.
Well I will stop whining, I don't have any cheese....LOL
Keep Joy and James and thier family in your prayers, they go to court this next week.
God Bless All

It has been ONE of THOSE DAYS

Praise the Lord for this Day!
Well I (Grammie) went to the doctor at 8:15 a.m. he had good news and sort of ify news. My left knee is now bone on bone on the inside of my leg. That is worse than it was in Aug. of 2005 when I saw him last. He is giving me the same series of shots that he gave me back then, to see how long he can put off having to do any surgery. Good news is that they have come out with a new proceedure that is a lot less invassive to the knee and is supose to NOT wear out, like the old stuff does. He has not mentioned anymore about a surgery except to tell me about the new proceedure. The shot he gave me has stopped a lot of the pain I was having. Now my hinny hurts where they gave me the shot....LOL..you can't win, can you?
I went to see Christy Stanton this afternoon and she figured our taxes for us . Well, we were bless with enough income last year that the govenor and the president, want even more. I Praise God even for this fact, and that it is no higher than it is. At least we had an income to be able to file on. There are many folks that did not.
I just spoke to Grandpa on the phone and he told me that Danny had been here at the house just a little while before I called him, but buy the time that I got home, Danny was long gone. Sorry that I missed him. I don't get to see my babies as much as I would like to. They are all growing up and away, like all childern do.
Enjoy your babies while you have them. You will turn around one day and poof, they will be grown.
Guess I had better get off here and go fix Grandpa some dinner. It looks like he is getting porkchops and potatoes and corn. MMMmmmmm..I am making myself hungry.

A visit with Grandad

Grandpa and I went down to see Grandad yesterday. He did not have any test done, he said that they said, they are just watching him and trying some food changes to see if that will help with his tummy trouble. Since yesterday was a holiday and they had a skeloton crew, I could not find anyone that knew anything about just why he was not allowed to eat anything but breakfast on Sunday. I know that another trip down there to talk to someone in the know is in my future.
Grandad was a little confused for a few minutes about how long he had been there. He kept telling us that he had been there for years and needed a new picture to put up on his door. He said he didn't think he looked that bad anymore. LOL He is right, Praise God, he doesn't look or feel that bad now. He was in pretty bad shape when that picture was taken, the day he arrived there in Nov. 2005. He is getting around very good on his own in his wheel chair and he is doing his physical therapy as often as they will let him.
Grandad did say that he would like to see some more folks than he has lately. That includes us too, we just do not get down there like we should. He knows that we all have our lives to live, but we also knows that he is lonesome for his family and friends.
While we were there, he told everyone that came down the hall who we were and that we had come to see him in the middle of the day. Our cousin, Danny Martin, stopped by to see him last Friday and Grandad talked to me and Grandpa about it for twenty minutes. He was in very good spirits and was laughing with one of the aides as we left.
There is a big Family Room down there that we could go to and take him in to see his grandchildren and great grandchildren for a little while. It would not have to be for long, he gets tire easily, but Jana, Sara, RoRo, Grandpa and I have taken him down there and it has been mostly pleasant. When he is tired, he is tired, but aren't we all. There is pool and shuffle board to play and a juke box with some pretty good, old music on it.

Another Weekend Gone

This was a disapointing Bait and Tackle Show. I would say that about half the exibitors did not show up and on top of that, it was so darned cold. We only went on Friday afternoon and we decided not to offer to work the booth. After we walked around the building for a while and stopped and spoke to Virginia & Mike Wornom, our cousins, my leg just gave out on me. I spent the rest of the night with the heating pad.
Saturday after walking all over Wal Mart for groceries, I was back home with the heating pad and that is where I have been all day today. Looks like I am going to have to listen to Grandpa and Joy and go see Dr. Rosacker, again. Ok, I know you told me so!
Grandad called me this evening, letting me know that I have not been down there to see him in a while and at the same time told me not to get out in all this ice....LOL....his point was made, he misses us, he is lonesome and he cares enough about us to tell us to stay home in bad weather.
I was down there on Valentines and he was doing his physical therapy so I did not interupt him. I went to the Family meeting that the Veterans have every few months. I did not want to interupt his therapy so I left. Next time, that I am there and he is busy, I will interupt it and have a visit with him. The most they can do is tell me not to do it anymore and I don't really think that they would. I just don't like to interupt peoples routines.
Grandad also told me that he was having some test on his stomach, tomorrow, Monday. He has been having some trouble controling his bowels so they are going to see if they can find out why. I am going to try to get down to see him sometime tomorrow and see what the doctors are looking for.

Burrrrr.....

Wowie...We went out to get some groceries and it is colder than a well diggers assets out there. Ok, I cleaned it up for the little one...lol
People are driving like complete idiots and then show you thier IQ and or Age when you almost run them down. We came straight home and I put up groceries, we had a bite of lunch and Grandpa went to sleep in his chair. I of course, came in here to play on this confounded machine. There is not even anything on TV worth watching.
Thomas came by on his way home to get some badly needed sleep. I am supose to call him when I get dinner ready. He said if he heard the phone, he would come over and eat. As tired as he looked, I somehow think he will not hear the phone. He might surpise me and wake up. I told him I was fixing Swiss Steak and his eyes just lit up. Who knows until I call.
Joy called and said that they are going to go ahead and put Jessica back in her big girl bed. She is pretty much out growing the bed that she has there. My, my, all of my babies are growing up so fast. Goodness gracious, even little Jacob is 3 months old.
Jordan is so proud of herself, because she can say Jacob. She goes through the house here with a picture of me holding him and just saying his name over and over again. LOL....I love it.
Hey, isn't it time for another game athon at Danny's & Angel's house again? LOL I will bring snacks and hold babies.
Gotta go for now and go get that Swiss Steak started, I sat here talking about it until I got hungry. Ha! Ha!

Friday...Bait and Tackle Show

Well, this is it, the weekend that we look forward to most of the year. The Bait and Tackle Show. It is very relaxing to go out and just talk about our favorite past time ( fishing) and checking out all the new gadgets that everyone thinks is going to be the best thing invented since the worm. LOL
Even though we have retired from our Tubing Club, because of Bruces shoulders, we have been invited out by the club to hang out. We told them to call us if they needed anyone to fill in and since our member ship isn't actually up yet, we can still work the booth. That is actually a lot of fun.
I hope that the wild animals are there again this year. Maybe we can get some of our grandbabies out for pictures. Jessica is still very proud of the picture that she has with her and her mommy with the Tiger "Clint Black". He doesn't come out to any of the shows anymore, because he got too big for them to handle. The year that we got that picture of Joy and Jessica was his last year to travel with the group.
Grandpa is supose to be off work in a little while and we will be going out to the Fair Grounds to look things over and to sign up for working the booth. We have been talking about maybe just going out to a couple of the lakes that the club is going to be at this summer and fishing with the guys and girls just for fun. Hey, what better fun than just floating around a beautiful lake with nothing around you but water. NO, I try not to think about the snakes....lol..!

Not much going on around here.

Well there really isn't much going on around here. The usual work day for most.
Thomas has gotten back to the REAL World, OKC, LOL.... He is getting back to his regular work at the air port. Grandpa left early this morning for Tulsa as he always does on Tues. and Thurs. I hate that he has to make that long drive, but it is his job. I go with him sometimes, just to keep him company on the way up the way back. That is a very boring drive.
Thomas came by on his way to work and ironed his shirt and let a basket of laundry. He offered to learn how to run the machines, but I would rather do it myself. MY Toys.....lol
He is planing to move back here with us at the end of the month. The arrangements he had with Bart for his rent just are not working out, because of his regular job. That way he can save up and be able to buy a place of his own and be on his feet when he does move out.
Danny just called and told me that they have several books with State Jobs listed in them down at the Jim Thorpe building. I am thinking about calling Joy and asking her if she would want to go down there with me to look them over. Joy will have a better chance at getting one of them, with the experience that she has, but you never know, I could fall into a good one. LOL..
I have to go pay some bills and go check the P.O. Box for more..lol.. then get back here to start getting some dinner going.
This things time is off by two hours, so I guess it is working on California time. It is 12:00 p.m. on the button right now.

Trying something New, to me, anyway.

Well, I am becoming very tired of all the medications that doctors want to push on me. So, I am trying something natural. No, I am not stopping the medications that I am on, but I am adding some natural. I started taking Flax Oil, 1000 mg. three times a day. If it show in my next blood test that my LDL's and HDL's are lower, then I will talk to my doctor about stoping the other meds. They have so many side effects, that I just want to get away from them. My doctor double one of my meds and I have started having some of the side effects. They are not fun. I have on my own, cut my medicine back to the original amount and supplimented the Omeg-3 in the Flax Oil. Everyone that I have spoken to has had pretty good results from it, so I thought I would give it a try. If it works, I am putting Grandpa on it. One thing for sure, it is a LOT cheaper than the prescriptions. Keep a good thought in your hearts for me.
Grammie.

Happy Birthday Joy Christine

Well, Hello there family.
Wow, is the weather ever different as night and day from this date 28 years ago. At this time of day I was getting ready to go to the hospital to have a stress test, due to my pregnancy with one Miss Joy Christine. My Mom, Granny to most everyone, was on her way up to get me to take me in for my test. As always, Bruce had to work, he didn't get much time off during those years. It had been icy and rainy and snowing for a week already. Danny had to walk to school and kept falling down, but he just had to wear his cowboy boots. A man a lady, parents of one of his classmates that lived around the corner from us, stopped and picked Danny up. He was so upset about the man putting him in thier car that the principal had to call me and let me tell him that it was ok, this time, and that I knew the people. When they also brought him home at noon, Danny was crying again, I could hear Mrs. Rose telling him it was ok, but until I opened the door, he was not happy. Man, when I told him not to do something like ride with strangers, he took it to heart. His poor little knees were black and blue from falling on the way to school that day. He never rode with them again. LOL Mom, Granny, got here about the time Danny did and was wonderful with him and explained to him that it was OK, that Mr. & Mrs. Rose were nice people and that they would not hurt him.
Granny and I took Danny to Grandma Cleo, because I was going in for test and I had a good feeling that I would not leave that hospital with out a baby. I had been having back labor since Thurs. and this was Monday. Well, nothing went right, the hospital messed up and told the doctor that I was a no show for the test, while I was sitting in the waiting room. So the doctor had to do the test herself, without the special team that she had planned for. She got called home because her horses had gotten out and into the road. That did not make any difference to Joy Christine, they started all this delivery stuff and she was going to be born. An Born she was! 9:00 p.m. at night she came into our lives. It started snowing again that night and did not stop until OKC was so covered up that the nurses could not get home and the Ambulances could not get in. It was just horrible and yet beautiful at the same time. Today, it is cold, but we have not seen it this dry in years. That was exactly 28 years ago today. Joy was born on Monday 13, 1978 and here it is, Monday 13, 2006. That is cool. "HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOY" Joy, James, Jessica, Jordan, Jana, Sara, Bruce and I had dinner last night for Her birthday. Danny was preaching in Lindsay, so he and his family could not attend and Thomas was working in Tulsa, he should be home sometime Tues.
I just looked at the calendar and Danny's birthday this year will be on the same day that he was born, too. Monday, Aug. 7, 1972 I still think that is cool. Thomas' birthday was on his actual date and day of birth, this past year. One time I went through computer calendars to see how many times that Granny's birthday landed on the actual day that she was born. I wish I could remember how many that was.

Sunday...A Lazy Day

Yes, it is going to be a lazy day. Grandpa and I slept in a little and just finished breakfast around 10:30 a.m. It is too cold out to go an do anything, so I think we will stay in where it is warm and cozy. At 5:00 p.m. we are meeting Joy and James and hopefully Jana and Sara and RoRo, for dinner at the Cimmaron Steak House for Joy's Birthday Dinner. With everyones crazy schedules (sp) and Valentines all here at once, tonight is the best night to do it.
Danny is preaching at a church in Lindsay, so he and his family will not be here. Thomas is working in Tulsa, and so I doubt that he will be here, either. But Joy knows that they will be with her in thier hearts. I really messed her birthday up by having her so close to Valentines, but I did not have a lot to say about it....lol
Thomas does not like Tulsa or its air port. He should be coming home on Tues. evening, after his shift ends. Bruce talked to him Thurs. when he was in Tulsa to work and Thomas told Bruce that his boss told him that he could go ahead and stay the night on Tues. at the hotel and come home on Weds. Thomas told them NO, that he would have his truck loaded and ready to go when he gets off work and he is coming home that night. I do believe that my baby boy is home sick. I don't blame him, I just hate Tulsa. It will be good to have him back in OKC again.

A Day With Charlotte

Well, I have had a very nice day. My friend, Charlotee, came up with her youngest daughter to a band concert for all the best player from all over Oklahoma. They were practicing today, so Charlotte came and got me and we spent most of the day together. It was like old times. Charlotte lives in Ada, Oklahoma now, but she use to live up here in OKC and we were best friends. I guess you could say that we still are, we just don't get to see each other every day like we used to. However, if either of us needs the other one, it only takes a phone call and we are on the road.
We went to IHop for breakfast and Joy and James came by so James could meet my girl. Of course we were nuts and talked about silly stuff that our children use to do and told a few stories on Joy and James just sat there like a dutiful husband/son and smiled. I know he must have thought we were crazy and he would have been pretty much right. LOL
Then we went to the practice and hooked up the girls (2) and the band director and went with them to Appelbee's for lunch. I don't care for thier food, so I had iced tea. Besides it had only been a couple of hours since we ate breakfast.
After we left them at lunch, we went to the Wall Mart in Moore and Charlotte got a few things that the motel she was at did not furnish. Soap, shampoo, ect. Then reluctantly I told her that I needed to come home and start getting some things going around here for dinner. By that time, I was getting a little hungry. It takes a lot of energy to walk through wally world..LOL.
All in all, a good day was had.

Thurs...it's going to be a busy one!

Well, here I am just sitting here on the computer reading everyones blogs.
Now it is time to get busy. Grandpa had to work in Tulsa today, so he left very early this morning. He is going to try to be home in time to go to Lindsay for Brittany's last basket ball game.
When I get off of here, I will leave the house like I should have a couple of hours ago, but I know I will get done what I need to. I have to go get some money on the Pike Pass so Grandpa can drive on the turnpike, then go get a few things at the grocery store. Then putting gas in the car for the trip to Lindsay. Then I will go pick
Jessica and Jordan up they will be with me for the evening.
Jessica is so excited that she is getting to go to see her {big} cousin play basket ball. She has to label everyone. LOL Big is not the discription I would ever use with Brittany in mind. I keep telling Jessica that Brittany
is her oldest cousin, but she still says big.
While there, we will be stopping in on Angel and Danny to pick up Girls Scout Cookies. Oh boy, cookies that I am not supose to eat. You can bet even money, that I will eat some of them, if I can beat the grandbabies to them. LOL
I just spoke to Angela on the phone and I could hear Mr. Jacob cooing in the back ground. I can't wait to get my hands on that little guy. He is still to little to run off an play when we are visiting...LOL I get my share of hugs and kisses from all of them, but I just have to work at it harder with some of them. They think they are too old for that sort of stuff.....WRONG.....LOL...they need to think again... 8^)
We have been so blessed with our families. That is just pretty much where it is, FAMILY, and GOD has blessed us with each and every one of them.

Going to Tulsa

Well, I am going to go to Tulsa with Grandpa today. Just to get out of the house.
Thomas is still working up there, so we thought we might try to work in lunch or dinner with him, if he is not having to work a double like he did Sunday. When I spoke to him Sunday night, he did not sound like a happy camper. They are not paying him on the wage scale that he was lead to believe he would be paid. He thinks he will be there until Friday, without a day off.
I go to Tulsa with Grandpa a lot, it breaks the routine here at home and give us a little extra time together. Once in a while, we get together with Dana & Donna Jackson, they live in Broken Arrow.
I had to realize last week, that I can drive in Tulsa, but I still don't like it. LOL ! ! Grandpa was sick, but had to go up and watch the store for three days so I drove. The turnpike is just fine it is the town I don't like.

Grandad, Jana, Sara, Grammie & Grandpa

After the basket ball game, we ran by Jana The Greats house. I had missed a phone call from her about what time the games started. Opps! When I realized she had called, the games were all over. We had a
nice visit with Jana and Sara.
After getting back to OKC, we went to buy groceries. It was a mad house at Wally World so we put that chore off until Sunday.
We called Jana the Great to see if she and Sara wanted to take Grandad out for dinner. They were already going up to see him and we had been up on Friday and Grandad mentioned that he would like to go out to eat.
Well, we all gathered at the nursing home around 4:00 p.m. We went to eat at the Buffalo Wings place. Grandad told us while we were there that he was not much into these fancy places to eat. So next time, we are going to go to KFC. He said that sounded good to him. LOL.. We will get it right, one of these days. We had a good time, it was just more than Grandad was reay for.
**RoRo is under the weather with a nasty cold or flu, everyone needs to put her in pray to feel better soon.

Yeh, two good basket ball games

Well we were up bright and early this past Saturday so we could get down to Lindsay for double header basket ball games that Brittany played in. It was very well worth it. Brittany has gotten alot more agressive in her playing and she got her hands on the ball a few times. She looked really good out there. She sure looked tired when it was all over. They "THE PURPLE TEAM" won both of thier games this past Sat. That makes them 3/3 so far for the season. Thurs. evening is thier last game. I sure hope that we get to make it. Brittany, we are very proud of you!

Thomas is going places...

Well, Thomas is on the go. He came by last night for dinner and to play on the computer a little. When he came in to eat, he had just gotten off the phone with his boss at the air port. The boss is sending Thomas to
Tulsa air port to work for a little while. They are so short handed that they asked him to go up there, all expenses paid. Now you can't beat that with a stick. It will give him some insight on a different way of doing things and get him away from OKC for a few days. I think he will enjoy himself. First thing he said was he is taking his swim suit. Sounds like he has the right idea there. I told him that they would not have asked him to do this, if they did not trust him to do the job right.
