September one busy month!
Well, it has been one busy month with all the birthdays being in the first two weeks of Sept. a few of us got together at the VA Center and had cookies and ice cream for Bruce and Jana's birthdays. Grandad didn't feel like going anywhere. It is getting harder to take him out of the center. We can not take his electric wheel chair in any of our cars, so he has to work very hard and getting in and out of his regular chair. It is almost more than he can do anymore.
Joy and Jessica and Jordan were here on Grandpa's birthday, but he had to go to Tulsa to work and did not get home until late. Then on Tues. he had to go back to Tulsa. So Joy finally got to talk to Grandpa on the phone to wish him a Happy Day.
Then the following weekend Danny and his children came up to give Grandpa his birthday card and a hat and Thomas and Reba came by. Danny's children wanted to eat so we went to two different places before we could get into one and eat. We had a nice time and after the meal, everyone went their own ways.
On Sunday the 17th we all met at Santa Fe Steak House in Norman for Sara's birthday. A good time was had by all. Brittany got to come up with Jana and Sara and RoRo. Grandpa and I went to get Grandad. Rhonda, Kerry and Brandon came, we also celebrated Brandon's 20 th birthday as it is the same day as Sara's. Kim, Nancy and Jeanie also came. Robby was there of course! Our poor waiter sure earned his tips, that day...LOL
It was pretty hard for Grandad to get in and out of the car going and coming and when we got him back to the VA Center, he told me he was not going out anymore. I hope that that is not true. It is hard on him to transfer from his chair to the car and back again. I just wish there was something we could do to make it easier on him. We are looking into so new transfer systems, so that it will be easier for him to go places with us.
We went down to see Grandad on Saturday 9-23-06 and after we chased him down for 10 minutes, we finally caught him as he was going around a corner. He acused us of steaking up on him from behind. I told him that we had been following his voice all the way down the hall and he just laughed. We had a nice visit with Grandad, but we were also going to Lindsay to eat dinner with Danny and his children and Thomas and Reba were there. We all went out to where Angela was working, at Teran's and had dinner. Ro Ro joined us for dinner. It was nice.
We had stopped by Grandad's house and talked to RoRo, Thomas and Reba for a little while before we went to dinner. Then after dinner, we all went back to Grandad's and helped RoRo go through the closet in the spare bedroom. As Joy would say, "Man Oh", I had a mouse run down my right leg and I had a little fit over it and that is when Reba left the room. LOL .... I don't blame her, I wanted to. I have never seen so many boxes of material except in a store. There will be alot there for crafters & quilters to go through at the all city garage sale in Oct. We still have lots to do, but we did make a dent. This is really hard to do!
Well, there are good memories. We got to tell our grandbabies a lot about their Great Granny and Great Grandad. I hope that they remember the stories we tell.
